    Stanley Introduces the Stanley®
FatMax® Xtreme™ Line of Hand Tools
    Forward-thinking designs target
    the most extreme tool users

New Britain, Conn., November 6, 2006 – The STANLEY® FatMax® family has established itself as one of Stanley’s most extensive and innovative product families in the company’s history. In 2006, Stanley trumps the original FatMax® family with the introduction of its most forward-thinking product family to date, the STANLEY® FatMax® Xtreme™ line of hand tools. The new line includes a multifunctional demolition tool, 24 and 48 inch levels with greater durability and accuracy, fixed and retractable utility knives, a redesigned chalk line, heavy-duty demolition screwdrivers and a best in class tape rule featuring an industry first 13 feet of continuous blade standout.

“Stanley has always been in the business of producing tools designed for the end user and today’s pros are looking for new tool innovations that will help them work more efficiently,” said Jeff Ansell, president, Stanley Consumer Tools Group. “The STANLEY® FatMax® Xtreme™ line was designed specifically to meet the demanding needs of professionals. The line is essential for any pro or expert enthusiast who desires top quality, durable tools that can improve productivity and workmanship on the jobsite.”

The product development cycle for most tools at Stanley always begins and ends with the end user and the STANLEY® FatMax® Xtreme™ line is no exception. The Stanley Discovery Team interacts with end users in an environment that is both comfortable and familiar for them, the job site, to acquire information about how a professional would make the best tool in the industry. Stanley takes that knowledge and shares it with designers and engineers who develop early prototypes and test models. These models are then tested on job sites with professionals, modified according to their suggestions and then tested again. Once the tool meets the needs of the pro, Stanley finalizes the design and develops the product. It is along a similar design path that the STANLEY® FatMax® Xtreme™ line evolved.

The STANLEY® FatMax® Xtreme™ line will be available in April 2006 in hardware stores and home centers where STANLEY® products are sold.
